Feminity.

In these works devoted to the female body, Barbara de Jonghe questions the ambiguity of the exterior and interior of the female body. In light boxes or overexposed with flashy pop effects, the body is subjected to an X-ray test . Is it irradiated by the inner light? By desire? By impulse? And what impulses? Even by carrying out an X-ray of the Woman, by subjecting her to alchemy, active in red, her soul, her interiority remain enigmatic. Woman, this "dark continent" wrote Sigmund Freud.

Cubist portraits.

Seismic, particle concretions, this woman is a contemporary, provocative, electric Madonna with long black hair. Facing the fractal aspect, in Mandelbrot’s sense, before the impression of bursting into myriads of signs, the spectator is disturbed. Depending on the distance, women’s perception varies. This portrait reveals the woman of today: the woman who has won the right to decide her own life.

Follow me.

Questioning women's identity... personality seen from behind. Woman approached in a form that combines sensuality and erotic suggestion. No face or body on the same level as the face, seen from the front. The woman turns her back on us, a swinging fetishistic grammar. Sometimes the body is split, crossed by an intense Yves Klein red or a blue, illuminated by the lightbox which accentuates the impression of lightness.

Nude drawings.

In her nude drawing series, the small format photographs are similar to drawings that express the sensuality of the female body in a different way. Front or back, focusing on the thighs, zoom in on the buttocks, the mount of Venus, the waist, a grammar of sublimating the sensual lines of the female body.
